Nested Lists

  • Use nested lists for sub-steps: If a particular step includes multiple actions, use a nested list to break these down. Example:
    1. Configure the settings:
      • Open the settings menu.
      • Select “Preferences.”
      • Adjust the desired options.

Clarity and Continuity:

  • Ensure continuity between steps: Each step should logically follow the previous one. Avoid unnecessary or redundant steps that could confuse the user.
  • Use imperative language: Numbered lists often involve instructions, so use clear, direct commands.

Dos:

  • Use numbered lists for sequential instructions
  • Use nested lists for detailed steps

Don’ts:

  • Don’t combine multiple actions into one step
